Environmental Impact Statement /Public Environment Report
Prior to any construction taking place on the ground, a range of government licences and approvals, including a comprehensive review of the environment and the potential impacts from construction, were required.
- Please click here to read Jemena’s Supplement to the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)/Public Environment Report (PER) for the Northern Gas Pipeline Project, which addresses comments received during the public review period.
- The Commonwealth Minister for the Environment has approved the construction and operation of the NGP. The Minister's decision was made under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999. Visit the Department of Environment and Energy's website for more information.
To satisfy the requirements of both the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act (EPBC Act) and the NT Environmental Assessment Act (EAA), Jemena has prepared a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)/Public Environment Report (PER) for the Northern Gas Pipeline Project.
The Draft EIS/PER was made publically available from 29 August 2016 to 9 October 2016, and interested persons and organisations were invited to provide comment.
Comments received have now been summarised and addressed by Jemena in a Supplement to the Draft EIS/PER, which has been lodged with both the Commonwealth Department of Environment and Energy (DoEE) and NT Environment Protection Authority (NT EPA) for assessment.
As part of the Commonwealth approvals process the final Supplement to the Draft PER is required to be on public exhibition for a period of 30 business days. The document will be available at the link below until 25 January 2017.
