Your electricity supply can be affected by a number of factors beyond our control, including:
- Extreme weather conditions – storms, wind, lightning, heat waves
- Interference – cars colliding with power poles, vandalism
- Trees hitting wires
- Animal and bird interference
- Construction and other public works by third parties damaging lines
Ongoing maintenance and upgrades to our network ensures the safety and reliability of the electricity supply to all our customers. Our aim is to minimise disruption to your power supply when performing these essential works.
If we are conducting planned maintenance work in your area, we will inform you at least four business days in advance of when we may need to interrupt your supply.
Restoring your power
During widespread outages, restoring supply to essential services is our first priority.
In the event of a power outage, we will reconnect your supply as soon as possible.
Our network is monitored 24 hours a day, so most supply interruptions are automatically identified by our control centre. Crews are on standby 24 hours a day to respond to any outage, with extra support available at times of extreme weather conditions.
