Taking pride in workplace inclusivity

Jul 3, 2023

It’s Disability Pride Month, a time to celebrate disability identity and community, and to promote advocacy and allyship. With this front of mind, this year we have established a new disability employee network which continues our organisational focus on improving disability awareness and accessibility in our own workplace.

This is something close to the heart of our Diversity and Inclusion Manager, Danielle.

“We believe that everyone across our workforce has a role to play in creating safe and inclusive environments for people with disability and in breaking down barriers to access and opportunity.

“As an Autistic person with ADHD, I know how challenging it can be to not feel safe or supported to be your true self at work. I have personally benefitted so much already from the camaraderie and connection of the network as we’ve shared our lived experiences and goals for the Group. I can’t wait to see the difference we make for others as we move forward with our plans for the future,” she said.

We’re also forming external partnerships with the aim of creating a more inclusive and accessible workplace for all employees, including:

  • Formalising a partnership with Twenty Percent Disability Inclusion Consulting to support and guide our pathway to improved access and belonging into the future.
  • Signing on as bronze members of the Australian Network on Disability, who offer support for organisations to build accessibility and inclusion with an evidence-based approach.
