Jemena Releases Fourth Energy Charter Disclosure Report

Oct 4, 2022

Tuesday, 4 October 2022

From improvements to customer communications, to an industry-leading hydrogen gas project, Jemena's fourth Energy Charter Disclosure report provides a window into the Group's customer-focussed activities and achievements over the 2021-22 reporting period.

Released today, the report centres around the Energy Charter's five principles of:

  1. putting the customer at the centre of our business and the energy system,
  2. improving energy affordability for customers,
  3. providing energy safely, sustainably, and reliably,
  4. improving the customer experience, and
  5. supporting customers facing vulnerable circumstances.

Commenting on the release of the report, Jemena's General Manager of Customer and Commercial Usman Saadat said: "This year's Energy Charter Disclosure reflects the significant progress we have made in recent years to ensure we are responding to what our customers are telling us they want and need from their energy distribution company both today and in the future."

"Our 2021-22 Energy Charter Disclosure report includes many examples of great work happening across our business including details on how we are improving how we communicate with our customers during an electricity outage, as well as work we're doing to prepare our electricity and gas networks for a low-carbon future.

"We know our customers are also being impacted by the rising cost of living, and in response, we are pleased that we have been able to keep our portion of a customer's bill - their network distribution charges - flat year-on-year. We have also worked with industry leaders, such as Uniting Vic.Tas, and other Energy Charter signatories to deliver a range of financial advisory and support services for our customers as part of the Energy Charter's #bettertogether program."
