The Jemena Electricity Networks Large Customer Forum took place this week, with attendees hearing from leading industry experts and Jemena’s community partners on how we work together to energise and support the communities where we operate while meeting the needs of large energy consumers.
An important part of Jemena’s commitment to living our core value of ‘Thinking Like a Customer’, the forum provided the opportunity for senior leaders at Jemena to outline what we’re doing as a business to help support our customers and the community. We also shared details on some of the key innovations and behind-the-metre changes we are making across our business to prepare our network for a low-carbon energy future.
Jemena’s Commercial Manager of Electricity Distribution, Johan Ng, said the Jemena team works hard to ensure the specific needs of its largest customers are addressed.
“Our large customers use more than 50 percent of the electricity that flows through our network, and each large customer has different energy priorities that reflect the realities of their industries. We need to understand these needs to best serve their interests.”
Mr Ng said that forums such as these are an important part of how we do business.
“The energy system of the future will look very different to how it looks today. With customers’ solar panels, batteries, and electric vehicle uptake continually increasing. It’s more important than ever that we’re building strong relationships with our customers and consulting with them about their changing energy needs, as well as delivering an innovative approach to our customer experience.
“We have a strong track record of engaging with our customers and stakeholders to
ensure that our customer and community voices are reflected in our strategies and operations. The insights we gain will help shape our approach to providing reliable and affordable electricity for our customers in Melbourne’s north-west now and in our low-carbon future,” he said.
