Update on Queensland Gas Pipeline Incident

Mar 8, 2024

Replacement pipe has arrived onsite as we implement our restoration plan for the Queensland Gas Pipeline (QGP), following an incident between the Rolleston Compressor Station and Oombabeer, west of Gladstone.

Restoration will involve a number of stages, including preparing the site for works to take place and excavating the site – now completed. From today, work will commence on repairing the pipeline, followed by testing, reconnection to the network and returning to operation.

We are working closely with our large industrial customers to support their planning for the resumption of supply via the QGP. At this stage, our ambition is for this to occur in the coming weeks.

We completed works yesterday morning (7 March) enabling the supply of additional gas from Santos’s GLNG gas pipeline for impacted customers. The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) are continuing to issue directions under the East Coast Gas Supply function to large industrial users regarding their gas usage. There continue to be no impacts to residential customer supply.

We are continuing to work with Queensland Government authorities, including Resources Safety and Health Queensland, in relation to the incident and the work under way to return the QGP to safe operation. We thank our customers, the local community and other stakeholders for working with us as we undertake these repairs, and apologise for the inconvenience to those affected by the incident.
