One of our Renewable Gas pilot production facilities located in Horsley Park, Western Sydney, is helping to take NSW a step closer to a clean energy future. The Western Sydney Hydrogen Hub (WSHH) demonstrates the effectiveness of hydrogen in helping to achieve emissions reduction targets in NSW.
Hydrogen is produced by a 500kW on-site electrolyser, which is powered by the electricity network. Jemena purchases a greenpower product from Origin Energy to offset and ensure the electricity used at the hub is renewable. Once injected into the existing gas network, and blended with natural gas, the hydrogen can be used by homes and businesses in the surrounding areas of Western Sydney.
The Western Sydney Hydrogen Hub is a $15 million project and renewable gas trial, co-funded by Jemena and the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA).
