A Pulse Output Counter helps businesses access real-time gas flow data. To set up this connection, you’ll need a compatible gas meter, interface equipment, and a data logger or building management system. While Jemena provides the meter, your licensed plumber or gas fitter and electrician will handle the rest of the installation. Costs vary based on your setup and will be detailed in your offer.
Australian electricity legislation requires compliance with AS 3000 (Wiring Rules), which refers to AS 60079 for electrical installations in hazardous areas. To meet AS 60079:2022 Part 14, the installation must use appropriate protection methods, such as intrinsic safety (Ex i), which ensures that equipment cannot cause ignition in explosive atmospheres by limiting the available energy. This ensures installations are safe and compliant with hazardous area standards.
For upgrades to your gas appliances, a larger regulator may be required. Your plumber will need to submit a request with our Meter Centre and arrange an appointment with your licensed plumber or gas fitter to safely disconnect and reconnect the gas supply during the upgrade.
Upgrading your gas meter may be necessary if your appliances need higher gas capacity. Your plumber will submit a request to Jemena’s Meter Centre, and we’ll provide a quote for the service. Once confirmed, Jemena will deliver the meter, and your licensed plumber or gas fitter will complete the installation.
If your business no longer requires gas, contact your energy retailer. Your retailer will raise a request for an abolishment. Jemena will safely disconnect the service from the gas main and remove the meter.
For renovations or temporary disconnections, contact your energy retailer. Your retailer will raise a request for a temporary disconnection. Jemena will safely disconnect the gas. If you no longer need gas, a full abolishment can be arranged through your retailer.
