Information for electricians

Are you a Registered Electrical Contractor who is looking to perform works within Jemena’s Electricity network?

Jemena services can be requested through our Connect and Manage My Electricity Portal or through an electricity retailer.

NOTE: If the supply capacity you request is not currently available at the time of your connection or upgrade application, Jemena may be required to make changes to the network to meet your needs. This may impact the cost and timeframe of your request. If this is the case, a Jemena representative will be in contact once an application has been submitted and assessed.

Jemena Portal Services

  • New Connections with meter installation only (Power to the property will not be turned on at the time the meter and service line are installed).
  • Alterations to existing supply and metering.
  • Overhead to underground (pole to pit) connection.
  • Abolishment and Meter removal for De-energized sites 
    i,e Sites where power has been turned off by a retailer, but supply still exists to the meter.

Retailer Initiated Services

  • New Connections requiring more than 80 Amps in supply capacity.
  • Abolishment and Meter removal for active sites i,e Power is still on inside the property with an active electricity billing account
  • New Connections which requires same day meter energization. 
    i.e. The customer would like the power to the property turned at the same time the meter and service line are installed.

Required Paperwork

In order to complete your connection requests Jemena require the following paperwork (minimum):

New Connections- Single Premise

  • Electrical Works Request (EWR) 
  • Certificate of Electrical Safety (CES) 

New Connections- Multiple Premises/Group Metering

  • Electrical Works Request (EWR) for each premise
  • Certificate of Electrical Safety (CES) for each premise
  • Certificate of Electrical Safety (CES) for group metering panel 
  • Plan of subdivision if property is being subdivided to include multiple dwellings
  • Council approved street number allocation document for each dwelling where the property is being subdivided

Unmetered New Connections (Only available through AGL) 

  • Electrical Works Request (EWR) 
  • Certificate of Electrical Safety (CES) 
  • A Site Drawing where the connection location is not clearly identifiable or visible on google maps

Alterations to existing supply and metering

  • Electrical Works Request (EWR) 
  • Certificate of Electrical Safety (CES) (A copy of the CES must be provided on site at time of alteration)
  • A truck appointment is also required and an electrician must be in attendance. 2 truck appointments are required for works exceeding 1 hour

Abolishments

  • VESI form

Note: As per the Electricity Safety Act 1998 it is a breach to remove the meter or service line from a property without approval from the electricity Distributor. Where you intend to demolish a dwelling, please ensure an abolishment of service has been completed before commencing any work.

Service Pit Installations

  • Site Drawings with proposed pit location 
  • Plan of Sub- division if site is being subdivided 

Please be advised any alternative or amended hand-written or printed versions of Certificate or Electrical Safety documents will not be accepted by Jemena unless approval from ESV is provided.
