Seek professional advice
Before making any changes to your existing electricity supply or installing new electricity powered appliances, we recommend you consult an electrician (Registered Electrical Contractor) for professional guidance and advice. Services which must be requested by your retailer
Your electricity retailer manages the billing of the electricity consumption at your property. Your retailer of choice can submit applications for Jemena services on your behalf. In some cases, you must request Jemena services through your retailer.
If you are moving in or out of a property which is already connected to the Jemena Electricity Network and a meter is installed at the property, reconnection and disconnection orders must be requested via your retailer.
Moving into a new property where electricity is already connected?
Speak with your retailer to ensure the power will be turned on when you move in.
Moving out of a property?
Speak with your retailer to arrange for your billing account to be closed or moved to a different address.
Removing A Meter where there is an active billing account
Knocking down your house and need the meter and service line removed?
If there is an active billing account open for the property, the request to remove the meter must be submitted via your realer so they can first de-energise the meter and close your billing account.
Building a new home and want the power turned on at the same time Jemena installs the meter?
If you are building a new house and would like the power to be switched on at the same time the meter is installed, you must submit your New Connection application with an electricity retailer of your choice.
New Connection via your retailer
Your retailer will submit an application for Jemena to install the meter and service line at your property and also setup your billing account. This will ensure we can turn the power on when we install the meter.
New Connection via Jemena
You or your electrician can submit an application for a New Connection directly with Jemena. In this case, we will not turn the power on when we install your meter and service line. Before moving in, the occupant will need to request the power to be turned on via their electricity retailer.
Avoid moving into a property without power
If applying for a New Connection directly with Jemena, we recommend you request your retailer to arrange for the power to be turned on more than 48 hours in advice of your move-in date.
Where to apply for services
Most services can be submitted directly via the Jemena Electricity Distribution Portal or via your electricity retailer. The services below must be submitted either directly or via a retailer.

Remove Your Meter, If the billing account at the property has been closed. An application to remove the meter must be submitted directly with Jemena
