On Wednesday, 28 April 2021, Jemena's Managing Director, Frank Tudor, provided a keynote address at the prestigious NT Energy Club.

Throughout his presentation Frank spoke about the key role gas will play in Australia’s future energy mix, while also touching on what’s next for Jemena’s $800 million Northern Gas Pipeline which was completed in 2018.

Frank also considered gas' decarbonisation pathway, and spoke about Jemena's:

  • Western Sydney Green Gas Project, which is developing green hydrogen gas and testing its application in residential and commercial settings, and
  • the Malabar Biomethane Project – a partnership with Sydney Water which will produce carbon-neutral biomethane which can be injected into the NSW domestic gas network.

While gas continues to play an important part of Jemena's portfolio, Frank also outlined work the Group is doing to investigate the application of other technologies including solar, storage solutions, and pumped hydro.

Frank also detailed Jemena’s locals first approach which saw the company spend more than $15 million with businesses across the Barkly region during 2017-2018, as well as the Group’s Pipeline to Success mentoring program – a partnership with Saltbush Enterprises –  which is providing job pathways for people living in remote parts of the Northern Territory.
