Jemena takes out two awards at Asian Power Awards 2019
Jemena has been recognised for innovative and trailblazing initiatives in the power sector at the Asian Power Awards held in Malaysia last night.
The ‘Smart Grid Project of the Year (Australia) Award’ was presented to Jemena for its advanced data analytics project Unlocking Benefits of Smart Metering. This project used smart meter data to detect and proactively rectify faults and address the challenges of Distributed Energy Resources. Jemena also took out the ‘Information Technology Project of the Year (Australia) Award’ for its demand response trial Power Changers.
This is the second award the Power Changers trial has won this year, also taking out the ‘Best Customer Innovation Award’ at the Digital Utility Awards held in Melbourne in March. The trial was a partnership with the Victorian Government that used smart meter data to allow participants to track their real-time energy usage on an app.
More than 600 customers took part in the trial across Jemena Electricity Network areas of Alphington, Craigieburn, Eaglemont, East Ivanhoe, Fairfield and Ivanhoe in the Jemena Electricity Network area from December 2017 to March 2018.
Each year the Asian Power Awards recognise projects from power companies in the Asia Pacific region.
