Jemena is now digital for all solar and renewables installations and alterations
3 December 2019
On 1 December Jemena moved to an end-to-end digital platform for all solar and renewables installations and alteration applications.
This represents our early response to an industry-wide move to create a centralised database of information relating to solar and renewable energy installations which is due to be implemented in early 2020. This industry-wide initiative, known as the DER Register, will allow networks to make better informed decisions about network investment options and to forecast, plan and operate the electricity grid more efficiently.
Jemena has taken this opportunity to digitise solar and renewables to align with our other construction application processes, with an aim to facilitate a seamless interface for our customers. This project is a great example of our teams demonstrating customer focus while delivering compliance related projects.
What do these changes mean?
Our installers and registered electrical contractors (RECs) are impacted the most by the move to digital, and we are working hard to support them through this change. Dedicated websites for both installers and customers have been created, containing all the information required to facilitate a smooth and efficient transition to Digital Embedded Generation.
Our installers and RECs will benefit from:
- No more paper forms
- Mobile enabled application
- Automatic data validation within the application
- One point of entry for all application types
- Instantaneous auto-generation of an Embedded Generation application number (EGid)
- Single point of reference - the EGid will be used by installers, customers and energy retailers to track and reference the job
