Supporting remote Aboriginal jobseekers
A person with a job is a person with a future. Together with Northern Territory based Saltbush Social Enterprises, we're working to deliver a new, first-of-its-kind Aboriginal Workforce Mentoring Program: Pipeline to Success.
Focused on supporting disadvantaged Aboriginal job seekers in the Northern Territory, the program will equip participants with the mentoring and leadership skills needed to support other members of their local community into part-time and full-time employment.
It is our ambition that the program will improve employment opportunities for people living in regional and remote parts of Australia, where opportunities can be scarce.
Tackling energy literacy
On hot days, households can use three times more power than usual, which can place home energy bills under pressure. Co-delivered with partner Uniting Vic.Tas, our Power Changers Community Connections Program offers handy energy saving, bill, safety and support advice for our customers across Melbourne’s north-west, helping them save on bills while staying cool and well over Summer.
Empowering community leaders
When it comes to explaining energy, sometimes it's better when we work together. Partnering with community and industry we're developing the Voices for Power ‘Train the Trainer’ Project, a first of its kind energy literacy program for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) customers across Greater Sydney.
A joint initiative between Jemena, Ausgrid, AGL, Endeavour Energy and Origin, and civil society coalition Sydney Alliance, the project will equip leaders from across seven cultural and religious communities to become energy experts within and advocates for their own communities by delivering a series of “train the trainer” style energy education workshops.
Sponsorships and donations
Reflecting the diversity and breadth of the communities we operate in, we’re proud to have ongoing relationships with a number of community organisations, including the RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service, the Royal Flying Doctor Service, Stars Foundation, Very Special Kids, Uniting, St Vincent de Paul Society and the Brotherhood of St Laurence.
