Community partnerships and programs

Supporting remote Aboriginal jobseekers

A person with a job is a person with a future. Together with Northern Territory based Saltbush Social Enterprises, we're working to deliver a new, first-of-its-kind Aboriginal Workforce Mentoring Program: Pipeline to Success.

Focused on supporting disadvantaged Aboriginal job seekers in the Northern Territory, the program will equip participants with the mentoring and leadership skills needed to support other members of their local community into part-time and full-time employment.

It is our ambition that the program will improve employment opportunities for people living in regional and remote parts of Australia, where opportunities can be scarce.

Taking control of energy bills

There are many simple things you can do to save energy and money in your home.

To help support Victorian customers struggling with electricity bills, we have partnered with community services organisation  Uniting Vic.Tas, on Uniting Energy Assist, a program offering  free, over-the-phone home energy appointments for Jemena customers across Melbourne's north-west.

Delivered by Uniting’s team of energy experts, appointments can help you better understand your bills, check you are receiving all available concessions and discounts, learn simple tips to cut your energy use, and much more. All calls are completely confidential and available in your preferred language.

Empowering community leaders

When it comes to explaining energy, sometimes it's better when we work together. Partnering with community and industry we're developing the Voices for Power ‘Train the Trainer’ Project, a first of its kind energy literacy program for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) customers across Greater Sydney.

A joint initiative between Jemena, Ausgrid, AGL, Endeavour Energy and Origin, and civil society coalition Sydney Alliance, the project is equipping leaders from across seven cultural and religious communities to become energy experts within and advocates for their own communities by delivering a series of “train the trainer” style energy education workshops.
