Jemena employees across Australia are participating in local Landcare activities to restore vegetation to local parks and along urban waterways. As part of a new focus on volunteering we have increased the range and scope of local site activities across New South Walws, Queensland, Tasmania and Victoria.
Landcare Australia supports the Landcare movements by raising funds and awareness and helping governments, corporations and communities become partners in environmental awareness campaigns and repair projects.
Jemena employees are taking on new roles as Landcare Champions, helping to build partnerships between their site and local Landcare groups. Jemena’s sponsorship of Landcare projects encourages employees to get their hands dirty – in a good way – to help both their local community and the environment.
Jemena rallied to help victims of the 2009 Victorian bushfires, together raising a $102,907.85 donation for the Red Cross – of this amount Jemena and EB Services employees raised $52,907.85, with the rest donated in-kind by the Jemena business.
In 2010 Jemena employees and the business again banded together to help those in great need, raising $16,650 for the Pakistan Monsoon Flood Appeal.
Jemena support for The Salvation Army over previous years enabled the purchase of an emergency trailer and four-wheel drive vehicle to support to affected communities.
Jemena employees have also played an active role in supporting Easter and Christmas appeals over many years, both through donations and as volunteers. In support of 2009 bushfire victims, our Melbourne employees gifted new (or near new) clothing and a range of household goods to The Salvation Army.
