Power Changers trial wraps up
Jemena thanks everyone who participated in the recent Power Changers trial.
More than 600 customers in the Jemena Electricity Network areas of Alphington, Craigieburn, Eaglemont, Ivanhoe and Ivanhoe East registered for the four month trial which ran from December 2017 to March 2018.
Power Changers, in partnership with the Victorian Government, was a demand response trial, providing incentives to energy users to reduce their electricity consumption during peak times on very hot days. The trial was an innovative, technology-led, community program enabling customers to cut their bills, reduce energy and ease demand on the grid.
Utilising smart meter technology and mobile apps, Jemena provided participants with energy saving tips, challenging them to reduce their electricity usage.
Participants in the Community program areas of Alphington, Eaglemont, Ivanhoe and Ivanhoe East donated their challenge points to local groups and schools. Participants in Craigieburn took part in the Rewards program and redeemed their points for gift cards for their own personal use.
Early indications are that Power Changers participants were successful in reducing their energy consumption, cutting bills and reducing demand on the network.
The Power Changers trial is now closed and the findings will be released in a post-trial report. In the meantime, thank you once again for participating and we hope you enjoyed being a Power Changer.
Thanks to families like Jim, Robin, Lily, Lara and Indy the dog for participating in the Power Changers trial.
