Premium feed-in tariffs

On 1 November, 2009, the Victorian Government introduced the premium feed-in tariff for Victorian customers with net metered solar photovoltaic power systems offering a premium rate for any power fed back into the grid. This tariff offered customers 60 c/kWh and was closed at the end of 2011.

Transitional Feed-In Tariff (TFIT)

On 1 January, 2012, the Victorian Government introduced the transitional feed-in tariff for Victorian customers with net metered solar photovoltaic power systems offering a rate of 25 c/kWh for any power fed back into the grid. This rate is valid for a maximum of 4 years.

The State Government allocated 75 MW of new solar systems to this tariff structure and this limit is about to be met – the TFIT is now closing.

How do I ensure access to the TFIT?

If you have already paid a deposit for solar panels and would like to be considered for the TFIT, you must submit the following paperwork to your Retailer by 30 September, 2012:

  • A Solar Connection Form
  • An Electrical Works Request
  • A Certificate of Electrical Safety
  • A feed-in tariff contract application

If you miss this deadline, your chances of obtaining the TFIT are much reduced.
